MANICANI ISLAND, Guiuan, Eastern Samar — Residents of Manicani Island, alongside members of the Protect Manicani Island Society Incorporated (PROMISI), gathered in a silent protest at the Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) campsite in Barangay Buenavista on March 12. The protest aimed to oppose HMC’s transition from care and maintenance to active mine operation phase.
