CATBALOGAN CITY — In celebration of World Wildlife Day, the Lantaw Pitad Inc., together with the City Government of Catbalogan and the Manaragat Organization, planted mangrove trees as part of the Lantaw TUROK Project in Barangay Cabugawan, Catbalogan City on March 3, 2024.

City Mayor Dexter Uy said Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting coastal areas from the impact of typhoons and other threats by acting as natural barriers, reducing the risk of flooding and erosion.

“Damo nga salamat ha iyo,” Uy said as he thanked the Lantaw Pitad and the Manaragat Organization for the pro-environment initiative.

This collaborative effort aims to promote environmental conservation and sustainable practices in the community, highlighting the importance of mangroves in safeguarding coastal communities against natural disasters.

During the activity, at least a hundred of Mangroves were planted by the volunteers from the above-mentioned offices and organizations.
