CATBALOGAN CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VIII, under the Centenarian Program, joyfully awarded the centenarian privilege to the second centenarian of 2024 in the town of Hilongos, Leyte on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Lola Lucia is the third centenarian from the said town. She received a cash incentive worth Php100,000 and a congratulatory letter from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In connection with this, she also received Php20,000 in cash incentive from the Local Government of Hilongos under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Manuel Villahermosa.
Lola Lucia is one of the 80 centenarians in Eastern Visayas who are set to receive the same privilege this year.
The agency invites other senior citizens and their families in the region who are approaching their hundredth year to directly coordinate with their City or Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (C/MSWDOs) to process their application.
The Centenarian Program is a DSWD program aimed at recognizing Filipino senior citizens who reach 100 years old anywhere in the Philippines.
