CATBALOGAN CITY — Mayor Dexter M. Uy kicked off his third State of the City Address (SOCA) this afternoon, March 19, at this city’s Tandaya Hall with an OSCARS-themed event, expressing gratitude to Catbalogan’s outstanding stakeholders for their dedication to resiliency and sustainability.

“We decided to continue last year’s theme as a way to recognize everyone who has supported us in achieving our city’s vision,” Mayor Uy stated.

He hopes to establish the theme as a tradition to make the SOCA more engaging and to inspire the city’s constituents and key partners.

“The year 2023 remains part of Phase I of our ‘Pagtanum’ Road Map. We are still sowing the seeds of development to achieve our 2040 Vision,” he emphasized.

Mayor Uy highlighted last year’s focus on strengthening organizational structures as the foundation for the next phase.

“Slowly but surely, we are improving the foundation, especially in identifying important projects. We are fixing, replacing, and revamping as needed,” he added.

Notably, two new additions to his 10 development agenda from last year – tackling environmental protection initiatives and culture preservation was added in his highly applauded State of the City Address.

“You will once again see our achievements from last year through short films showcasing each sector,” the mayor said.

During the SOCA 2024, several outstanding individuals and representatives of various offices and agencies were called up to the stage and awarded plaques of recognition.

To address the waiting reporters wanting to ask more details about his report, a press conference with regional media was also held.

Just like last year, several short films defecting several testimonies and happening for each sectors were also shown up stage.

In closing, Mayor Uy emphasized that while the videos are creative, the achievements mentioned are real and based on the actual accomplishments of each sector.
