Around 2,250 beneficiaries, enrolled at Samar State University (SSU), Samar College (SC), and St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan (SMCC), received the assistance through the Catbalogan City Population and Youth Development Office (CPYDO).

Earlier, students residing in the upland 11 barangays such as Albalate, Bangon, Cagudalo, Cagusipan, Caguti-an, Cawayan, Libas, Lobo, Maguihay Palayogon, Totoringon, and from the 7 island barangays of Buluan, Bagongon, Canhawan Gote, Rama, Cinco Sierra, Mombon, and Cagutsan also received grants.

Mayor Dexter Uy, in his address to the beneficiaries, emphasized the city’s commitment to providing quality education, stating, “Our objective is to help these students achieve their educational goals and contribute to their personal development. Education is key to a brighter future, and we want to ensure that it remains accessible to all our students.”

The program, managed by the CPYDO, aims to assist more students in the future, ensuring that education remains accessible to all.

Mayor Uy assured that in the coming year, more students will benefit from this program, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 4, which aims to provide Quality Education through educational assistance programs under the City Population and Youth Development Office (CPYDO).
