Province of Romblon – A total of 2,000 residents from the municipalities of Odiongan and Alcantara in Romblon received aid from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) during a two-day outreach program held on May 27 and 28, 2025.
Spearheaded by PCSO Director Janet Mercado, in coordination with Odiongan Mayor Trina Alejandra Firmalo-Fabic and Alcantara Acting Mayor Adrio Galin Jr., the initiative distributed 1,000 Charitimba (charity food buckets) to each municipality. The events were held at the covered courts of both towns and served indigent families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
In addition to the food assistance, a free medical and dental mission was conducted in Odiongan on May 27. A total of 166 residents benefited from services such as medical consultations, tooth extractions, and electrocardiograms (ECGs). All attendees also received free medicines and vitamins provided by PCSO.
The Sangguniang Bayan and local residents expressed their sincere gratitude to the PCSO for the services extended, which they said provided meaningful support to the communities.
This initiative forms part of PCSO’s ongoing commitment to public service under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and Medical-Dental Mission program, which aim to improve access to basic healthcare and social support across the country.
