One NPA fighter killed, another captured during clash with Army in Basey Samar

BASEY, Samar — Troops from the 63rd Infantry Battalion, under the operational control of the 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade, 8ID, PA, encountered approximately 10 members of the Communist Terrorist Group in the hinterlands of Basey, Samar, on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Lt. Col. Eduardo Meclat Jr., commander of the 63IB, reported that during the clash, the retreating NPAs abandoned one of their dead comrades.

The army official added that a wounded NPA was captured by government forces and immediately provided with proper medical attention and care by the troops.

It was also learned that an M16 rifle and other war materiel were recovered at the encounter site.
