Philippine and Australian Troops Conduct Jungle Survival, Combat Tracking Drills

TAGUIG CITY, Philippines – Soldiers from the Philippine and Australian Armies joined forces for jungle survival and combat tracking exercises on the slopes of Mount Isarog, Camarines Sur, as part of Exercise “Kasangga” 24-2, held from November 4 to 5, 2024.

A combined force of 47 Filipino soldiers and 50 Australian Army personnel trekked approximately eight kilometers from Brgy. Tinangis in Pili to Brgy. Panicuason in Naga City, practicing essential skills such as jungle survival, tracking techniques, and patrol base operations.

During the exercise, Filipino and Australian troops learned to source water, identify edible plants and animals, and set traps, which they later returned to inspect. The activities aimed to enhance their adaptability and teamwork in challenging environments.

Australian Army participants expressed appreciation for the hands-on skills and gained a deeper respect for the resilience and expertise of their Filipino counterparts in jungle conditions.

Exercise “Kasangga” 24-2 is scheduled to conclude on November 8, 2024.
